AN AIRMAN`S LAMENT
To have faith is to have wings - to soar high into the clouds
Without fear nor thought for the fragility of man or machine.
In peace and war - in the unselfish madness of their profession
They have soared and struggled with proud spirit
and endeavour to great heights.
They have now reached the quiet and peaceful fields on the other side.
They will never soar again. May peace and tranquillity be theirs always.
Guide and guard all those who venture to fly and those
who seek to maintain their fragile machines.
