The park commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.  The park has a series of plaques placed at the foot of trees commemorating those who served in conflicts well as individual plaques for residents of the island. In 1995 a memorial was placed in the park in honour of those who served in all conflicts.
