This symbolic Jeep is dedicated to the 
Royal Australian Army Medical Corps


Vehicle History:
• Chassis restoration by Healesville Rotary Club
•  Body built Willys in 1942 and delivered to United States Army in that year.
•  Shipped to Australia under the Lend Lease program and subsequently issued to the RAAF
• Sold off in the late 1950s or early 1960s, it was crudely converted to right drive for road use. 
• Purchased a museum to be later restored, the vehicle was burnt out Kinglake during the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires. 
• Subsequently obtained by Healesville RSL and restored to static display by Badger Creek Mens Shed in the Badger Fire Brigade Shed. 

School of Army Health, Healesville:
• Director General Medical Services (DGMS) MAJGEN
• Frank Kingsley Norris, negotiated the purchase of Summerleigh Lodge, Healesville as the new home for the Corps School
• The property was purchased and officially handed over to the Army on December 1st, 1951
• On July 20th, 1983 the School of Army Health, Healesville was officially named Norris in honour of Maj Gen Sir Frank Kingsley Norris, KBE, CB, DSO, ED
• The School of Army Health moved to Portsea in January, 1986
• Since 1998 the school, renamed the Health Services Wing, has been part of the Army Logistics Training Centre at Bonegilla, Vic.

This plaque was unveiled at a Dedication Ceremony held on September 9, 2017
