The monument commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.
It consists of seven low sandstone pillars, each with an insignia or plaque attached. The insignias included are for the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, Royal Australian Air Force, RSL, Australian Women's Service. There are also two dedication plaques.
In 2015, due to renovations, the pillars were relocated to the Bruce Short Memorial Garden, next to the Fairfield RSL Club.
