The monument commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.  It is a white marble soldier statue on a polished grey granite column on a 2-stepped granite base.

It was originally unveiled by the Earl of Stradbroke on Armistice Day, November 11th, 1921 to commemorate those who served in World War One. The names of those who served in World War Two were added at a later date.
