The Club was erected to commemorate those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.
At the monthly meeting of the District Council of Millicent the Secretary to the Millicent Sub Branch of the R.S.S. & A.I.L.A. (Mr. V. A. Willshire) wrote, asking whether it would be possible for the Council to let the sub branch have, or acquire, the block of Council property with frontage to Davenport Street, and with a depth of 120 feet, for the purpose of building a club room. On the motion of Cr. J. W Williams and G. W. Altschwager it was decided to transfer the block to the R.S.A. free of cost.
