The pool commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The pool was opened on 16 December 1961, by the Ministerial contingent that also opened the Police headquarters, the Infant Health Clinic and the High School extensions. The State RSL President W.S. Lonnie unveiled the plaque which dedicated the pool in commemoration of Australians who had served in war.
