The swimming pool commemorates those who served in World Wars One and Two.

The establishment of an Olympic swimming pool at Glenora as a war memorial was decided on in a meeting at Bushy Park in 1945. The Bushy Park War Memorial Swimming Pool was built by the Upper Derwent Valley Community over a four-year period from 1954-58. The official opening was performed by the Warden of New Norfolk, Mr R.M. Page O.B.E., on February 28, 1958.
