The memorial is a flagpole on a white plinth which commemorates those who served in World War One and World War Two.
An impressive Anzac ceremony was held at Homestead State School in 1954 at the memorial flagpole. Wreaths were laid on behalf of the ex-servicemen and women, the girls and boys of the Homestead Stae School and members of the public. Each child present then laid a floral tribute on the memorial until the whole memorial was surrounded by flowers creating a fine spectacle. During this ceremony the hymn "Abide With Me" was sung. The names of the fallen of both World Wars was read and then to the words of "To The Fallen" the flag was raised and the ceremony ended.
