The Memorial Hall commemorates those from the district who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved. The foundation stone for the hall was laid by the Queensland Governor, Sir John Lavarack in 1953.
A suburban community effort begun seven years ago will reach fruition today. Mr. A. K. Lawton will turn a key and declare the Nundah-Northgate Memorial Hall, in Bage Street, Nundah, officially open. This new £16,000 public hall, which will also be the Returned Servicemen's League war memorial for the district, is the result of seven years' work and money-raising efforts worth £7000 by almost 300 people in the district.
