The National Servicemen`s Memorial commemorates those who undertook National Service in the Australian Defence Forces from 1951 to 1972.
Between 1951 and 1972, a total of 287,000 young Australian men were called up in two separate schemes for compulsory training in the Navy, Army and Air Force. Of them, 212 died on active service in Borneo and Vietnam. National Service was part of Australia’s defence preparedness for three decades.

National Service
This memorial is dedicated to the 325,811 National Servicemen who were conscripted into the Australian Defence Force between the years 1951 - 1972.
During this time there were two distinct call up periods which saw more than 200 young Australians pay the supreme sacrifice with a further 1479 being wounded in service.
Commissioned by the Nashos League of W.A. Inc, in conjunction with the
Northam Branch of the RSL.
