The plaque commemorates members of 8th Battalion,  Royal Australian Regiment (RAR) who died in service or were killed in action during the Malaysia campaign and the Vietnam War.

This battalion was the first to place a plaque commemorating those who died in Vietnam on the Royal Australian Regiment memorial.
