The honour roll commemorates those who served in World War One. The roll was funded through the ANZAC Centenary Grants program.
The Flinders Municipality is acknowledged as having the highest per capita rate of enlistment of volunteers in Tasmania for World War One. It also had the highest enlistment of indigenous Australians in World War One.
