The marble tablet was erected in memory of those from the District who died in service or were killed in action in World War One.
DINGEE.—A meeting of the patriotic committee was held on Wednesday night. Several designs of a memorial tablet, to be placed in the Mechanics' Hall in memory of the brave local men who gave their lives in service of King and country, were submitted and a suitable one chosen. It was decided that the unveiling ceremony should take place at a united church service at an early date.
