The wooden honour roll commemorates former students of the Murtoa State School who served in World War One. 

An honor board made of Australian blackwood, containing the names of 94 past scholars of Murtoa State School, who enlisted for active service has been unveiled by the Director of Education. The honor flag, bearing one bar, won by Dunmumkle shire in connection with the seventh war loan, was also hoisted.
