The walkway commemorates the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who served at Gallipoli, in Turkey during World War One.

It is pleasing to see that the once named Dardanelles Pass is to be opened once more, During the time Mr. R. V. Smythe was Mayor of Katoomba and the Great War was in progress, £600 was expended on this pass. Since that time it has become unsafe and only frequented by those who find pleasure in taking risks.
