The oak tree commemorates German servicemen who died in internment camps in World War One.

The plaque inscription translates to:-

"Memory Oak planted on 23, November 1930 by General Consul Dr Busing at the unveiling of a memorial in honour of those who died in internment which was erected through donations by their fellow countrymen in Australia.

The German Grave Commission
Tadsen, Chairman."
