The Memorial Hall was erected to commemorate those who served in World War One. The foundation stone for the hall was laid on the 9th July 1920. The Dunmunkle Shire Council applied for a grant in 1954 to renovate the hall.

The State Commandant (Brigadier General C H Brand) leaves for Rupanyup this evening, where he will lay the foundation stone of a Memorial Hall, and present 1914-15 stars to ex members of the Australian Imperial Force and next of kin of deceased soldiers. He will return to Melbourne on Saturday morning.
