Memorial Tree PlaquesPrint Page
Six plaques, which were taken from trees planted in vicinity of the Laura Public School, commemorate former students who died in service or were killed in action during World War One.
The memorial tablets which have been erected in front of trees planted in close proximity to the Laura Public School, to the memory of scholars of the school who paid the supreme sacrifice in the Great War, have recently received loving attention from Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Wild, the latter being a cousin of the late Lieut. O. Wheaton, an ex-teacher of the school who died on active service. The uprights of the tablets were painted by them and the brassplates polished.
Recorder (Port Pirie), 1st June 1922.
