The hall commemorates those who served in World War One.

The foundation stone for the hall was laid by the Governor , Sir Francis Newdegate on his first official visit to Bruny Island on the 27th November 1919.
The Mercury (Hobart) 24th November 1919.

The opening of the hall took place with a sports meeting and fair on the 27th December 1924. The hall was officially opened by the Warden, Mr Johnston.

This stone was laid by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania as a memorial to the men who fought in the Great War.
