The memorial commemorates those whose ashes have been scattered at sea.

The Glenelg Seaside Memorial was completed at a cost to Holdfast Bay Council of $25,000. It features four 1 metre tall sand and black coloured granite pods around a centrepiece with an image of the jetty and the words “Forever at Glenelg beach, Forever remembered” inscribed.
The monument caters for 640 names, to be added quarterly. It costs $1500 to have a name permanently engraved on the memorial.
