The Lord Howe Island Historical Society
This plaque commemorates the placing of a time capsule hereunder by His Excellency Sir Ninian Stephens, A.K., G.C.M.G., G.C.V.O., K.B.E. Governor General of Australia, on 10th November 1988 in the presence of the senior citizens and schoolchildren of Lord Howe Island.
The time capsule, containing a record of life and events during Lord Howe Island`s 200th year since discovery will remain
sealed until the year 2088.
