The Willandra Lakes Region
This region provides outstanding evidence of the antiquity of modern man, of the life and culture of early Aboriginal societies, and an unrivalled record of past environments and landscapes.
In recognition of its outstanding universal value, the Willandra Lakes Region was inscribed of the World Heritage List on 26 October 1981, under the UNESCO Convention concerning the protection of the world cultural and natural heritage.
This plaque was unveiled by the Premier of New South Wales, the Hon. Neville Wran, Q.C., M.P.
