Waltzing MatildaPrint Page
The monument commemorates the song "Waltzing Matilda` which is believed to have been written at nearby Dagworth Station.
Kynuna is a tiny outback town famous for inspiring Banjo Paterson to write his iconic tune, Waltzing Matilda. It is said that Samuel Hoffmeister, at the time of the Shearers' Strike, drank his last drink at the Blue Heeler Hotel and then killed himself at Combo waterhole (south of town). This story stirred Paterson to write the now-famous ballad.
