Sister cities are cooperative agreements between towns and cities, and politically distinct areas to promote cultural and commercial ties.

This Gingko Tree was planted by the Chairman of Matsudo Council, Japan, Yutala Oshigamo on 11th May 1979 in commemoration of the eighth anniversary of the sister city affiliation between Box Hill and Matsudo.
