The plaque commemorates the Kainton Primary School which operated from 1886 to 1955.
The school was declared the Clinton North Provisional School in 1886 under the Greens Plains Board of Advice. Provisional schools were set up in buildings which were rented by the Education Department which also supplied a teacher. The building in this case was the Clinton Bible Christian Church which became the Clinton North Methodist Church in 1907. In 1915 it officially became the Kainton School.
