The series of plaques, listing competitors, commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

The race is an annual event hosted by the Crusing Yacht Club of Australia starting in Sydney on Boxing Day (26 December) and finishing in Hobart.  The race was first undertaken in 1945.
