The plaque commemorates four Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) staff who were killed in an aircrash in 1983.
On October 24, 1983, the ABC's regional manager Ralph Elphinstone, who was flying the aeroplane, was killed along with rural reporter Bruce Anning, 28, cameraman Joe Mooney, 55 and his assistant Bill Fryer, 33. The aeroplane crash near Clermont, north-west of Rockhampton.
