The tree commemorates those who were killed in the Wangary bushfire in 2005 and the significance of community support.

 The Wangary Bushfire on the Lower Eyre Peninsula, killed nine people in 2005. The fire, known as Black Tuesday, also killed about 50,000 livestock, destroyed 93 homes and burnt through about 80,000 hectares.

This Eucalyptus leucoxylon commemorates the 10
year anniversary of the devastation caused in
the Wangary Bushfire on 11 Jabuary 2005, and was
planted by the District Council of Lower Eyre
Peninsula on behalf of its community.
The tree is a symbol of life and hope, and reflects
the enduring nature of the Australian bush and its
people.
