The monument commemorates the pioneers of Mildura and was unveiled during the golden jubilee celebrations of 1937.

A memorial stone, which is being erected by the school children of the Sunraysia district to the memory of the early pioneers,
and to mark the commemoration of the golden jubilee, has almost been completed, and will be placed on its foundations in
Henderson Park this week. The stone will be unveiled by Mr. J. H. Bennett, district inspector of schools, on August 13.
