50th Anniversary of Proclamation of the Township of ChurchillPrint Page

The plaque commemorates the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the township of Churchill. 

The "Proclamation of Township of Churchill" was made by the Shire of Morwell on the 15th March, 1965. The Public Notice (published on 17th March 1965) stated "Notice is hereby given that the Government of Victoria, by and with the advice and guidance of the Council of the Shire of Morwell, has ordered that the Residential, Reserved Living, Central Business, Light Industrial and Public Open Spaces Zones of the Hazelwood Joint Planning Scheme 1963, shall hereafter be known as The Township of Churchill."
