The Pioneer Monument
(On the site of the former School of Mines)
The rounded water-worn stones represent the alluvial and dredging phases of mining.
The white quartz represents reef mining.
Grey-blue Ordovician rock. The host rock of most of Victorias gold bearing reefs and lodes
Designed by Neville Wolff
Built by Ted Piggott in 1961.
