First Bakery in Buderim
William James Stanley built the first bakery ovens c1919 on this. The bricks came from Brisbane and the sand from Forest Glen. Salway employed Jack Cahill as baker. Over 1800 loaves a week were delivered to Buderim and Mooloolaba using a two- horse bread wagon. The bakery ceased operation c 1948.
The sculpture was designed by Montville artist Kevin Oxley and constructed by local tradespeople using the original bricks and metal oven doors. It is dedicated to the early pioneers.
The plaque was donated by Buderim 2000 committee in grateful appreciation of Buderim's history.
