To the memory of Palmwoods pioneers
This stone marks S. E. corner Portion 23 (595 acres) first leased by Cobb & Co. groom Louis Bamberger in 1874, then owned briefly by Frederick Shaw.
The area was known as Merriman`s Flat when Peter & Catharina Kuskopf, 6 sons & a daughter settled here in 1891.
Their kin, the Momme Bendixens & George Fewtrells took up adjoining lands soon after.
