Front Inscription
This tablet commemorates the first Lebanese settlers, then known as Syrians, who reached Victoria from the 1880s onwards. By the early twentieth century many formed a community in the block bounded by Lonsdale, Exhibition, La Trobe and Spring Streets, Melbourne.
