Tawonga Pioneer Memorial Park
Pioneer John Cooper was the original settler of this land in the early 1860`s.
On the untimely death of his wife Charlotte, John made the arduous journey in a horse drawn dray from Queenscliff with his two boys, John Junior 8, and Thomas 10.
They settled at Tawonga in 1867 and lived in a bark hut. John`s daughter Sarah made the journey some time later.
The original parent farm remains largely in Cooper family ownership.
Plaque donated by Allan and Margaret Mull and John (Jack) and Sheila Cooper
