The plaque commemorates Captain David Jones for his services to the Welsh community. Captain Jones died in 1926.
MELBOURNE, December 28. Captain David Jones, a skipper who made a number of trips to Australia; in charge of famous clipper ships of the eighties, died at Armadale, on Chrismas Day, at the age of 85 years. When he "came ashore" for good he associated himself in business with the Victorian Stevedoring Company.
