Front Inscription
The Queensland Women`s Historical Association affixed this plaque 24th Sept. 1961
In memory of Francis Mary Ridler, Hon Life Member, who died 9th Sept. 1959, Aged 97.
She remembered the setting of the foundation stone of this Church by Queensland`s first Governor, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, on 23rd Sept. 1867.
Her parents, John and Mary Nicholson helped to build it.
This suburb was named after Groveley Wood in the village of Barford St Martin, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, from whence they came.
