The park commemorates Donald George MacLeay for his service to the Quairading District.

Donald MacLeay served in World War Two, enlisting in the Australian Army in 1940.  On his discharge in 1946 he and his sister, purchased a tearoom business in Quairading.

Donald Macleay was a driver for the Ambulance Service and a committeeman with the Quairading RSL. He was a prominent marksman competing in rifle shooting competitions in the district.  Donald MacLeay died on 2 August 1973, aged 70 years.
