The plaque commemorates Arch Altschwager for his restoration and maintenance of the town fountain.
The Loxton Fountain is a stone and metal hexagonal structure, which features copper artwork by local Vern Wilksch. The copper panels are distributed around the base of the fountain and depict scenes relating to the town of Loxton eg thehistory, the crops, the River Murray. The fountain was donated by John and Ruth Moore and was opened by the then Governor of South Australia, her Excellency Dame Roma Mitchell, in 1991. Arch Altschwager was instrumental in restoring and maintaining the fountain and in 2003 a plaque was added to commemorate this.
