The seat commemorates Ray Bolt who was a curator at the Rail Museum.
Ray Bolt spent much of his time committing to the preservation and promotion of the railway history through his volunteer work at the Rail Museum. After his death the Tailem Bend Info Station Association dissolved and donated funds to the Coorong District Council to erect the seat.
