The park commemorates Ken Pemberton, who assisted by Jim Barrance, laid out the school grounds with native trees and shrubs. A tablet also honours Jim Barrance.
Pemberton was a cleaner of the school which opened in 1961. He devoted his whole life to keeping the school and grounds in excellent condition.
