The marble tablet on the horse trough was erected by RSPCA and commemorates Basil and Rose Tudor-Craig. The trough was originally located at Brighton & Ford Roads outside the former Brighton and District Uniting Church.
Basil was a clergyman who was actively involved in the RSPCA between 1900 and 1918 and was responsible during this time for the erection of a number of horse drinking troughs.
