Charlie Crear Print Page
A bridge commemorates Charlie Crear, a local settler who came from Malta.
Charlie Crear came to Habana as a cane cutter at the age of 18 in 1928. He worked on the construction of the Reliance Creek Bridge in the cane off-season. The bridge is the main connection between Habana and Mackay and before it was built Habana could be cut off for days from the rest of the region.
