A plaque next to the tree commemorates the service of Hector Ellis who was Secretary of the 10th Battalion Ex-Servicemen`s Association.
The tree which was planted by Hector Ellis in 1974 is next to the remaining chimney portion of a building that was part of a training camp during World War Two.

This tree was planted on 13th July, 1974, by Hector Ellis, Secretary of 10th Battalion (A. I. F.) Ex-servicemen`s Association 1947 - 1974, who died on 23rd December, 1974.
He served his fellow man.
