The monument commemorates Jack Medlyn for his community service to the town of Trundle.
Jack Medlyn who arrived in the Trundle district about 1910, and died suddenly on Anzac Day 1934, was one of Trundle's most celebrated citizens. During the whole of the 25 years residence he worked continuously for the community.
Jack Medlyn was Jockey Club Secretary for years, and an indefatigable worker for all War efforts, especially for the original School of Arts and later the new Memorial Hall, on which he served as a committeeman for many years. He was still on the committee at the time of his death. The Memorial was erected by public subscription and unveiled by the Reverend Archdeacon Neild in 1935.
