The Damien Leeding Memorial Park commemorates Detective Senior Constable Damian Leeding who was killed in the line of duty.
On May 29, 2011, Detective Senior Constable Leeding was responding with his partner to reports of an armed robbery in progress at the Pacific Pines Tavern in Coomera when he suffered a gunshot wound. He died in hospital on June 1 2011. He was survived by his wife Sonya and two children, Hudson and Grace.
The trio arrested after the shooting of Senior Constable Damian Leeding had their charges upgraded to murder following his death.
