The wall sculpture is an acknowledgment of the contribution of Emily Virtue to the school life of Presbyterian Ladies' College.

Emily Virtue was a classics teacher at the Presbyterian College for 35 years. She held a number of leadership positions within the school and served as Co-Vice-Principal from 1917 to 1918 then Vice-Principal from 1919 to 1933. She retired in 1935 and died at the age of 92 in 1961.
