The plaque commemorates Major General Sir John Gellibrand, who commanded the 3rd Division in France during World War One. Major Gellibrand was a member of parliament, representing the seat of Denison in the Federal House of Representatives from 1925 to 1928. Sir John Gellibrand was born in Ouse and died in Victoria in 1945.
