The Lombardy Poplars commemorate the life of William Hannaford (1911 - 1987) who was a former councillor and President of the Mulwarree Shire.
The Poplars planted in a nearby avenue on Arbour Day 1943 now stand as a memorial for his years of service to the people of the Taralga District.
